Brand Evolution
Building a Foundation
Modern Campus is a private equity owned company that has merged 6 companies totaling 10 products. Most of this growth occurred within 3 years, which prompted a robust and strategic rebrand to unite the individual IPs.
The Story
As an amalgamation of companies, Modern Campus needed to position itself as the industry leader in its space by unifying its product brand under one house. To do this, storytelling arcs were carefully introduced over time to customers and prospects to increase brand recognition without alienating current customers.
Phase 1 entailed tagging "a Modern Campus Company" beside the original product names after acquisition. This was unobtrusive, but let people know change was occurring. Our messaging remained "what"-first by marketing by solution and market differentiators.
Phase 2 involved re-presenting product marks into a single style to inch closer to brand unity. Messaging began leaning into the dubbed "Modern Campus Advantage" wherein multiple products were marketed together as a suite, boosting brand awareness and driving cross-sell.
Phase 3 concluded by renaming and designing custom product word marks, adding color palette attributions, and drawing custom emblems for each. This phase finalized the Modern Campus brand evolution though a custom typeface and overarching brand style updates to coincide with the new product marks. Messaging fully shifted into a "why"-first mindset, detailing Modern Campus' vision for the future of education: that every person can be a lifelong learner, to graduation and beyond.
